Apartment building Heimeliweg 9, Oberdorf completed
In the "Heimeli" neighborhood of Oberdorf, directly adjacent to the agricultural zone and with views of the surrounding mountains, an apartment building with seven condominiums has been constructed. In July 2026, we were pleased to hand over the apartments to their new owners. "Heimeli" is located near the municipality of Stans. To realize an architecturally and qualitatively superior project that also integrates seamlessly into the surrounding neighborhood, a design competition was held with three local architectural firms. The team led by Dani Schweizer of Sigrist Schweizer Architekten AG emerged as the winner in July 2021 .
The building was positioned to minimize any obstruction of the views from the existing, largely south-facing structures. The building height was reduced towards the south to maintain a sense of scale in relation to the two-story neighboring building to the south. The underground parking entrance is located directly at the intersection with the road, thus preserving the view of the Engelberg Valley and the adjacent agricultural zone to the east.
Art in architecture – the spirit of José de Nève
Where new people now find a home, the studio of the renowned Nidwalden artist José de Nève once stood. For us, it was therefore clear from the outset: his story should not disappear with the new building, but rather live on in a new form. Together with the Nidwalden artist Adrian Gander, known as "Anoy," and the architects, his artistic legacy was carefully integrated into the architecture. His stained glass windows were reinterpreted as colorful murals, one of his collages inspired the mountain panorama on the south facade, and original floor tiles from his former studio found a new home in the stairwell.
Thus, a new building has been created that not only provides new living space but also keeps alive the spirit of the place's earlier history.
Our sincere thanks go to all the companies involved for their great commitment, pleasant cooperation, and high-quality workmanship. We wish the new owners much joy and many wonderful moments in their new home.
